At Starkman Facial Plastic Surgery, we are concerned solely with the patient. This includes the patient experience, surgical outcome, safety, and overall well-being. From the moment you walk through our doors, you will feel the elevated level of care from every aspect of the practice.

Dr. Starkman’s philosophy centers around his patients’ trust—and the fact that this trust deserves nothing less in return than the greatest attention to detail without compromise. “Nothing is done until I feel that it is done to the best of my ability. No patient visit is finished until every question is answered. No procedure is complete until I feel the result is perfect.”

Unparalleled results

We produce absolute, top-level results without compromise. Dr. Starkman is a perfectionist and tailors an individualized operative plan for every patient. No two of his thousands of surgical cases have been identical. Outstanding results require attention, and the words “good enough” have never been uttered in our facility.

Patient Advocacy

We give the patient a 100% honest evaluation of their concerns and goals. Having the full range of surgical, non-surgical, injectable, and skin treatments allows us to give a plan without the potential for treatment bias. During consultation visits, Dr. Starkman will present his recommendation, or several recommendations, and provide patients with the necessary knowledge to make an educated decision about their treatment. The theme that permeates every appointment for our patients is that “The needs of the patient come first.”

Full transparency

At Starkman Facial Plastic Surgery, Dr. Starkman or our staff will provide an upfront discussion of all costs, risks, and limitations of any treatment. The are many details that are involved in any cosmetic treatment, whether large or small. Every detail from financial to medical to scheduling to recovery is discussed in detail. Before any surgical procedure, there are several in-office appointments and phone calls to ensure the patient is fully prepared for their treatment and recovery process.

Availability and follow up

Dr. Starkman is available 24/7 after any procedure, readily available via phone call to all of our patients. Regardless of the preparation for surgery, it is often a new experience going through the recovery process, and Dr. Starkman wants to make sure his patients are comfortable reaching out to him with any question or update. Our entire patient care team maintains close contact and follow-up with all our patients. Their best outcome is our only interest.

Innovative and cutting edge

We are never stagnant with our treatments. Dr. Starkman is a regular speaker and attendee of international Facial Plastic Surgery medical conferences to share and gain new knowledge. He is an educator on topics such as rhinoplasty and facial rejuvenation surgery, and has authored over 20 medical publications. We also offer FaceTite and Morpheus8, which are the most advanced non-surgical rejuvenation options.

All-inclusive and personalized

We deliver compassionate care to all of our patients, using a personal relationship to enhance your experience. Part of our concierge medical approach is providing all supplies and medications necessary to during the recovery process. Everything from instruction forms to wound cleaning supplies to gauze pads are provided at no additional charge. We are also one of the only plastic surgery offices in the country authorized to dispense medication, so we can provide post-operative medications to our patients without additional need to visit an outside pharmacy. This ensures that the medication is available and obtained by our patients prior to their surgery date.

Your First Visit

Deciding to pursue facial cosmetic procedures is a big decision. To help with making the experience as smooth as possible, facial plastic surgeon Dr. Sidney Starkman is dedicated to providing every single patient with a thorough and individualized consultation. If you are seeking facial rejuvenation, look no further. Dr. Starkman specializes exclusively in surgical and nonsurgical cosmetic procedures for the face.

How To Prepare For Your Visit

If this will be your first time at our practice, there are a few things you can do to prepare. We have put together a comprehensive overview of what your first visit will entail, as well as some information that will help you in deciding whether cosmetic surgery is right for you. From the moment you first enter through our front doors, we are dedicated to making you feel comfortable and at ease. We encourage all of our patients to bring a close friend or family member with them, if they wish. You will walk into our calming reception area and be readily greeted by our front office staff.

From there, you can enjoy some refreshments or peruse our skin care products on display. The staff will then take you to a patient room. At this point, you will meet Dr. Starkman and have a clear discussion about what areas of your face bother you the most along with an examination to determine factors, such as facial volume, skin condition, symmetry, and areas of aging. Dr. Starkman will discuss the possible treatment plans with you along with his recommendations. Each treatment and expected recovery will be described in detail.

Photographic Simulation

Once all of your questions have been answered, you will be offered a photographic simulation. This is done via our state-of-the-art medical photography imaging software to simulate what results you can expect after a treatment. You will be taken down the hall to our professional photography suite where standardized photos are taken. We will now walk back down the hallway to Dr. Starkman’s office where photographic simulation is performed. We believe the main benefit in photo simulation is to ensure that you and Dr. Starkman share the same vision for the goals of your treatment. After all of your questions have been answered with Dr. Starkman, our patient coordinator will meet with you to discuss all of the nonsurgical aspects of treatment, such as financing, scheduling, and logistics. We provide all of our patients with a folder containing treatment information, practice information, treatment quotes, and photo simulation printouts.

Questions to Ask Dr. Starkman

Here are some questions that you might want to ask Dr. Starkman during your first visit:

  • Who works with you during your surgery day?
  • What is the expected recovery?
  • How do you do the surgery?
  • Where do you place your incision?
  • When should I have the procedure?
  • Where do you perform your procedures?
  • What are some nonsurgical options?
  • What is your success rate? What is your complication rate?

Pre-op visit

If you decide to move forward with surgery, you will have a pre-operative visit within two weeks of your surgery. During this visit, we will complete all paperwork and provide pre-op instructions, all to ensure the day of surgery is stress free.

During the pre-op visit, we also provide all post-op supplies that will be needed during the recovery process—these include written instructions to ensure a smooth recovery and beautiful cosmetic outcome.

We will prescribe any necessary medications, which we will then hold until the day of surgery.

We will schedule the first post-op appointment.

General IV sedation

At Starkman Facial Plastic & Laser Surgery, we use local anesthesia with or without IV sedation in all cases.

In all procedures, we exclusively use General IV anesthesia in our AAAHC-Accredited surgery center. We use local anesthesia with or without IV sedation in all cases. IV sedation is always provided by a board-certified anesthesia provider.

With IV sedation, patients are breathing on their own, without the need for a breathing tube or mechanical ventilation.

We also offer Pro-Nox for minor procedures. This is 50/50 mix of nitrous oxide and oxygen. It is patient controlled, so they can breathe in as much as they want. It helps with anxiety and is a distraction from any discomfort. It is quick-acting and wears off within 15 minutes so patients can drive themselves home.

Day of Surgery

You will be called two to three days prior to surgery to review all details, arrival time, instructions, and any further questions you may have.

We ask that patients remove all jewelry and wear tops that are button up or low cut.

You will arrive 30-60 minutes before the scheduled surgery time.

You will be checked in with our surgical staff and brought to the pre-operative area of the practice.

We will provide you with a surgical gown and socks. Your belongings will be stored in a bag for after the surgery.

Just prior to surgery, Dr. Starkman will meet with you to review the plan for surgery. Additionally, if General IV sedation is to be used, our board-certified anesthesiologist will also meet to review the anesthesia plan.

We will place an IV for the administration of medication and bring you to the operating room.

Once the procedure is over, we will bring you to the recovery area, where you will recover for a period of several hours. Once you are ready, you will go home with a friend or family member.

Dr. Starkman will call you that evening to check in.

Post-op expectations

Following surgery, we practice close follow-up with all our patients. As mentioned above, we will provide a full list of aftercare instructions to ensure thorough preparation and a smooth recovery. We will provide Arnica Montana to decrease bruising.

While you recover in our recovery suite, Dr. Starkman will check in with you and answer any questions. Some swelling and bruising are expected, and this will begin to resolve within four days after surgery.

You will be able to reach Dr. Starkman and our staff 24/7 for any post-operative questions or concerns. One of our registered nurses will reach out four days after surgery to check on your progress

Multiple postoperative visits will be planned over the following weeks and months to continue to evaluate your progress
