About Sculptra

At Starkman Facial Plastic Surgery, our Monarch Skin Lounge offers a wide array of non-invasive treatments that are effective at achieving skin rejuvenation. Patients who are looking to increase facial volume and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines can see many benefits from Sculptra in Scottsdale. This dermal filler triggers collagen production in the deeper layers of the skin while repairing the upper dermal layers for a well-rounded revitalization.

What is Sculptra?

Sculptra is a dermal filler that is designed to revitalize facial skin by triggering new collagen growth. Instead of just adding volume to areas of the face like other dermal fillers, Sculptra’s primary function is to stimulate the body’s natural collagen production process. Over the course of several months, patients notice major improvements in skin texture, tone, and elasticity that are long-lasting. Many people choose Sculptra as it allows them to achieve a more radiant complexion without having to undergo surgery.

Who is an ideal candidate for Sculptra treatments?

Ideal candidates for Sculptra in Scottsdale are typically patients who are struggling with age-related changes in their face, such as volume loss, fine lines, and wrinkles. Sculptra is a great option for patients who are looking to achieve facial revitalization with minimal downtime.

Other criteria that determine candidacy include:

  • Seek to restore fullness to areas of the face that have been affected by volume loss (whether due to aging or weight loss)
  • Are only interested in a semi-permanent treatment
  • Want to achieve a more youthful aesthetic in the face
  • Are between 25 and 75 years of age

There are some conditions that may render one unfit for the procedure. Some of these include:

  • Wanting immediate results
  • Having a history of autoimmune diseases, such as multiple sclerosis (MS), lupus, rheumatoid arthritis (RA), or vasculitis
  • Being currently pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Being younger than 18 years of age
  • Suffering from skin conditions such as acne, eczema, and psoriasis
  • Being prone to developing keloid scars (this treatment can trigger an overproduction of collagen)
  • Taking blood thinners regularly

What are the benefits of Sculptra?

  • An FDA-approved treatment that is safe and incredibly effective
  • Does not trigger adverse allergic reactions
  • A non-invasive procedure that comes with little-to-no downtime
  • Minimal discomfort following the treatment
  • Lines in both the upper and lower layers of the skin can be treated
  • Numerous signs of aging, including marionette lines, laugh lines,
  • chin folds, and nasolabial folds can all be addressed with Sculptra
  • Results have proven to last for two years or longer
  • The injections stimulate new collagen production

What does Sculptra entail?

The filler is injected directly into the skin by way of a very fine needle or cannula. The skin is then gently massaged so that it fills up the treatment areas. While the procedure is not associated with any discomfort, patients can have a numbing cream applied. After multiple injections, a cold, gentle compress is applied to mitigate swelling.

Sculptra FAQs:

How much do Sculptra treatments cost?

Sculptra treatments will vary in cost based on the size of the area being treated and how much filler is needed. During the consultation process, we come up with a treatment plan which includes the overall cost. Sculptra prices start at $800 per vial.

Are Sculptra treatments painful?

It is possible that patients will feel some mild discomfort as the needle penetrates the skin. If desired, patients can have a local anesthetic applied to the injection sites prior to the treatment.

How long do the results from Sculptra last?

The effects of Sculptra have been found to last for two years or longer.

What happens after the treatment?

After the procedure is completed, patients can get back to their normal routines right away. As everyone’s issues are different, the guidelines for recovery will be different for everyone. There may be some slight swelling and redness around the injection sites, but this will dissipate after a day or two. Bruising may also develop, but this can be easily concealed with makeup.

Patients should avoid vigorous exercise for at least one to two days and make sure to sleep upright. While some improvements are perceivable right away, the final results of the treatment may take 6 to 8 weeks to settle in. The results from Sculptra in Scottsdale tend to last two years or longer.
